NEWPORT NEWS—To further increase safety in the I-64 Widening Project work zone, trucks traveling westbound on Interstate 64 are now restricted to the right lane between Jefferson Avenue (exit 255) and Yorktown Road (exit 247). Signs are posted along the shoulders in the work zone to alert motorists to the new restrictions.

The new restriction is in addition to other I-64 Widening Project work zone traffic safety measures. In January 2016, the speed limit was reduced to 55 miles per hour throughout the work zone.

All motorists are advised to obey the reduced speed limit, allow a safe following distance between vehicles, and drive with caution when traveling through the work zone.

A work zone safety video and more information about the I-64 Widening Project are available at: www.i64widening.org
