Port Partners,

Recognizing that accessibility to our terminals is critical to our trucking partners, The Port of Virginia is pleased to announce an innovative change at the PPCY:

Primary truck access to the PPCY is via Harper Ave. However, the proximity of a major intermodal rail facility necessitates the regular movement of rail cars in the vicinity. Congestion and delays on Harper Ave. are an unintended consequence of this vital rail work.

Effective immediately, the PPCY’s Tunnel Facility Rd. gate (see image below/attached) will be available as an alternate truck receiving gate when rail operations block access via Harper Ave. The Tunnel Facility Road gate will only be staffed for the arrival of trucks during periods when Harper Ave. access is restricted. Use of this auxiliary gate is limited; Harper Ave. remains the primary access route to the PPCY.

The long-term viability of Tunnel Facility Rd. gate usage will be determined by motor carrier compliance with the guidelines outlined above.
