On Tuesday, July 5th, senior representatives of the Hampton Roads’ International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) notified The Port of Virginia of their intent to participate in the “Global Day of Action for Dockers,” scheduled for Thursday, July 7th.

As outlined in the event notice, local ILA members plan to participate in an “hour of observance to the fallen and action” from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. on July 7th.

Balancing the interests of our customers and partners with the ever-present need to ensure safe and fluid terminal facilities, The Port of Virginia announces the following modifications to our July 7th operating hours:
• Richmond Marine Terminal and Virginia Inland Port o Business as usual – observe posted hours
• Portsmouth Marine Terminal o 9:00 a.m. gate opening with a 6:00 p.m. closure (inbound portal closes at 5:00 p.m.)
• Newport News Marine Terminal o 7:00 a.m. gate opening with a 5:00 p.m. closure (must register by 4:00 p.m.)
o Trucks will NOT be processed between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.
• Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) and Virginia International Gateway (VIG) o 5:00 a.m. gate openings at both facilities
o 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – NO ADDITIONAL INBOUND TRUCKS PROCESSED
o Outbound terminal traffic will be processed up until 8:00 a.m.
o Trucks will NOT be processed between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.
o Business as usual after 9:00 a.m.
o Both facilities will remain open until 7:00 p.m. (inbound portals close at 6:00 p.m.)
• Pinners’ Point Container Yard (PPCY) o 5:00 a.m. gate opening
o 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – NO ADDITIONAL INBOUND TRUCKS PROCESSED
o Outbound traffic will be processed up until 8:00 a.m.
o Trucks will NOT be processed between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.
o Business as usual after 9:00 a.m.
o PPCY will remain open until 7:00 p.m. (inbound portal closes 6:30 p.m.)
 
Inbound trucks are strongly advised to avoid arrivals at NIT, VIG and/or the PPCY between 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7th.
