Hanjin Shipping Update – Cargo Released to Customers

Collaboration between The Port of Virginia, our local ILA leadership and Hanjin Shipping has produced positive results.  Effective immediately, all Hanjin import loads are fully released from Port of Virginia facilities, barring any holds from federal agencies (CBP, USDA, etc.).

  • Cargo owners may take delivery of import loads, on Port of Virginia terminals, without financial consideration
    • Demurrage (“last free day”) considerations are to the account of the ocean carrier and WILL NOT hinder container release to the cargo owner
  • Cargo owners may reclaim export loads, on Port of Virginia terminals, without financial consideration
  • HRCP2 chassis charges remain to the account of the motor carriers
  • No empty Hanjin containers will be released, but empty Hanjin containers may be returned to the PPCY
